Jain Workshop (Short-term Course in Jainism)
The Jain Study Center of North Carolina and The Federation of JAINA are proud to present the first Jain workshop (short-term course in Jainism) for Pathshala Teachers and other interested adults during the Thanksgiving holiday from Thursday, November 26, 1998 to Sunday, November 29, 1998 (4 days/3 nights).
During the workshop adults will learn in English, the fundamental principles of Jainism, Jain philosophy, Jain ethics, Jain rituals, Jain literature, Jain history, Jain cosmology, Comparative religions, and the application of Jainism to daily life. Details of the program will be published later.
Also, we are in the process of compiling a list of most frequently asked questions by youths. The answers to these questions will be discussed during the workshop. Please forward any youth's questions to one of the committee members.
The aim of this workshop is to educate and prepare Jain Pathshala Teachers, however, the workshop is open to all interested adults. The maximum number of participants can be accommodated in the workshop is 40.
The workshop will be held at the Radisson Governors Inn in the Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. The registration fee for the workshop is only $100, which covers lodging (three nights of hotel accommodation), food, transportation from and to the airport, and all the material that will be given at the workshop.
We estimate the total cost of the workshop will be about $8,000. we need to generate $40,00 in contribution. Any monetary or other kind of help is welcome. Your contribution is tax-deductible in the USA. JAINA has already done its share by pledging a contribution of $2,000.
