World Community Service Committee JAINA adopts two villages JAINA has once again rushed to help the victims of the worst cyclone of the century which devastated the west coast of India. Thousands are reported dead and many are without shelter and food. So many of them have lost family members, farms, livestock, the roof over their head and everything they had. Parts of Kutch district have plunged into darkness. Till this day, there is no power to draw and supply drinking water. The wind blowing at 140 km/ hr has demolished whatever came in its route. Kandala port and nearby 38 villages are very badly affected. JAINA has already distributed thousands of pounds of clothes to the needy. WCS of Federation of JAINA has launched a Gujarat and Rajasthan Cyclone Relief Fund to raise the fund to help victims of the devastating midnight cyclone. Till today's date we have received more than $37,249 from donors. Our target is $55,000. Now, JAINA is joining hands with Vivekanand Research and Training Institute and has taken responsibility to rehabilitate two villages, Ragha and Shekhadia, a few miles away from Kandala. JAINA handed over the first installment of $25,000 to Vivekanand's representative via Mafatkaka, a well known philanthropist. JAINA is continuing its fund raising efforts. Names of the donors for this project will be published in the December issue of JAIN DIGEST.
