YOUNG Minds YOUNG JAINS OF AMERICA YJA '98 Convention Site Selected The 1998 YJA Convention will be held at the beautiful Del Lago Resort and Conference Center. The largest lakeside feet of conveniently organized meeting space for YJA's exclusive use. The convention facility is a free-standing building just a 30 second walk from the Hotel Tower where the guests will sleep. The abundant space includes 25 meeting rooms and fits all needs such that no conference room will need to be altered (turned-over) once the convention begins. Besides having several auditorium size ballrooms, the resort has extensive audio/visual facilities with a 2500 sq. ft. amphitheatre as well as full CD-ROM, videoconferencing, and teleconferencing capabilites for hotel rooms and conference centers. Dining for the YJA Convention will be in Lago Vista, the larger of two restaurants in the Conference Center. The restaurant is elegantly furnished, seating 900 comfortably, and will be reserved for YJA guests only. Staff at Del Lago Resort and Conference Center are extremely accommodating and will not only accept recipes from us, but also lessons on how to prepare the food. Other eating establishments, such as pizza delivery services and the gift shop (which offers sodas, juices, and snacks) are available 24-hours a day within the hotel premises. Of course, room service will be available 24 hours a day and hospitality rooms in the first floor of the Hotel Tower will offer snacks throughout the convention. The Del Lago Resort provides a variety of recreational activities No publication is complete these days without a mention of an official website. Well, why should YJA be any different? Many of you have already seen the YJA official website. This year, it will also contain the latest information on the convention. Although the site will continually be upgraded and improved, we plan to include the following: • Programming plans as they are made. A list of confirmed speakers and scheduled sessions. • Complete Registration information, including a downloadable form that can be mailed in. as well, with access to several sport facilities, such as tennis, volleyball, and basketball courts. There's also a health club, outdoor pool, weight machines, and other exercise equipment for those who feel a need to get in shape! Del Lago has the resources to offer utmost care in terms of adequate security for the convention. For guests, electronic room locks and safety deposit boxes will be provided. Entrances and exits will be manned by registration volunteers continuously throughout the convention and the sole entrance/exit to the Hotel Tower has a security desk complete with a video camera where volunteers will be staffed throughout the conference for our peace of mind. This resort has everything this convention needs to be a successful one. We are confident everyone will be well provided for and will enjoy their stay.
