________________ International Alumni Association of Shri Mahavira Jain Vidyalaya (IAAMJV) Mahavira Jain Vidyalaya, well known for its constant service in the cause of education is one of the oldest pioneering institutions of its kind in India. Realizing the importance of education in the 20th Century, Shri Vijay Vallabhsuriwaraji Maharaj inspired the leaders of the Jain community to build a hostel for bright and needy Jain college students about 80 years ago. From this small beginning in 1915, it has grown to 8 hostel servicing some 828, male and female college students in Maharastra and Gujarat, India. AFFILIATE NEWS The IAAMJV is a not-for-profit, tax exempt association of some 350 former students of Shri Mahavira Jain Vidyalaya and other progressive minded individuals living in North America. It was founded in 1991 and is probably the only association, outside of India, whose primary goal is to promote the cause of education within the Jain community. The association has raised $267,000.00 since it inception. Membership in IAAMJV is open to the entire Jain community irrespective of sect. International Mahavir Jain Mission, Siddhachalam the first Jain Thirth outside of India, is continuing to remain a vibrant place that welcomes yatris in ever increasing numbers. Muniji who, took diksha at the age of 13 in 1952, is a well known poet and scholar, was very close and devoted to Guruji. He presided Guruji's Punya Tithi at Siddhachalam on April 23, 1995 and over the Mahavir Jayanti celebrations in San Jose, CA, and New York. - Siddhachalam will receive visits from Muniji and Muni Shree Jinchandraji Maharaj (Triouti Bandhu) and Shree Amrendra Munijia this summer.
