________________ GUNASTHANAS. If the ascetic here be able to completely subdue or destroy the lingering tinge of greed, he is safe and pisses on to the twelfth stage. But if it remains only in check by utmost exertion of the soul, then in time to come, it may gather sufficient strength to overcome the controlling forces of the agent, and may cause the soul to slip back even into the lowest stage. If on the otherhand he successfully combats greed, he becomes an Anuttaravasi Deva and knows that he is destined to become a Siddha after his next birth. In the twelfth stage, Kshinamoha gunasthanaka, the ascetic not only eludes the grasp of greed, but also becomes free from the influence of all Ghatin karma or those which prove to be impediments in way of obtaining omniscience. And although the Aghatin karma still persists, it is too weak to bring the soul under its control. The soul at this stage passing through the remaining two stages enters at once into Moksha.
