The result of the works conducted by the Italian Archaeological Mission - which are the object of detailed accounts in the Reports and Memoirs (see p. 15) - are treated more briefly in this Guide-book. It is hoped that it will prove useful to visitors to the excavations as well as to scholars interested in Oriental archaeology, since it deals with new data which are otherwise still unpublished.
