________________ INTRODUCTION This volume containing the Antagadadasao and Anuttarovavaiyadasao is planned on the same principles as my editions of other Jain texts like the Nirayavaliyao issued in the earlier part of this year, and is designed to meet the requirements of the Intermediate Arts Students of the Bombay University. So far as I know there are only two earlier editions of the first text, viz., the edition issued from Calcutta by Rai Dhanapatising Bahadur in 1875, and the edition issued by the Agamodaya Samiti of Surat in 1922 (A). Both the above editions contain also the text of the-Anuttarovavaiyadasao. Dr. L. D. Barnett has added the text of this work to his translation of both the above texts (The Antagadadasao and Anuttarovayaiyadasao, Oriental Translation Fund, New Series, Volume xvii, London, 1907 ). The editions of these texts are long out of print and hence I undertook, for the benefit of students of the Bombay University, a new edition of both these texts. I have added a Glossary of Prakrit words with their meanings in Sanskrit and English to make the book more useful to the student world. The Appendix contains an extract from the Bhaga vatisutra on the story of Skandaka, as there are * frequent references to this story in our texts. The
