________________ PREFACE : XXV in his commentary Śrīmannandīsūtram''. He has mentioned that this was a work pertaining to the knowledge about the Moon (Candra), but that it is presently unavailable. The purpose behind his above mentioned statement is, perhaps, that the text (Candavejjhayam) is not available in its original form, because his tradition does not accept prakīrņakas as canonocal texts. In 1941 A.D. itself, its original Prāksta version alongwith Samskrta shadow-verses by Muni Caturvijaijī and edited by Vijaya Kşmabhadrasūri, was published by Kesar Bāi Jñāna Mandir, Pā tana. Perhaps, he was under the impression that the subjectmatter of this text related to the learning about the Moon and that was not available in that form. Actually, the subject matter of this treatise is not about the learning about the Moon, but relates to the realisatio of the ultimate goal of life, which is selfemancipation.
