पंचम कर्मग्रन्थ
उपशमन णि चढ़ता है, वह जीव उसी भव में क्षपक णि वा आरोहण नहीं कर सकता । जो एक बार उपशम धणि चढ़ता है वह कार्म. ग्रन्थिक मतानुसार दूसरी बार क्षपक थणि भी बढ़ सकता है ।' सद्धांतिक मतानुसार तो एक भव में एक जीव एक ही श्रोणि चढ़ता है ।
इस प्रकार सामान्य रूप से उपशम श्रोणि का स्वरूप बतलाया गया है। अब तत्संबंधी कुछ विशेष स्पष्टीकरण नीचे किया जाता है ।
गाथा में उपशमणि के आरोहण क्रम पुरुषवेद के उदय से श्रेणि चढ़ने वाले जीव की अपेक्षा से बतलाया गया है । यदि स्त्रीवेद के उदय से कोई जीव श्रेणि चढ़ता है तो वह पहले नपुंसक वेद का उपशम करता है और फिर क्रम से पुरुषवेद, हास्यादि षट्क और स्त्रीवेद का उपशम करता है। यदि नपुंसक वेद के उदय से कोई जीव श्रेणि चढ़ता है तो वह पहले स्त्रोवेद का उपशम करता है, उसके बाद क्रममा पहेद, हापालिक का और नपुंसका भेद का उपशम करता है । सारांश यह है कि जिस बेद के उदय से श्रोणि चढ़ता है उस वेद का उपशम सबसे पीछे करता है। इसी बात को विशेषावश्यक भाष्य गा० १२८५ में बताया है कि
