Panchama Karma Grantha
The least degree of bondage of the four passions (kashaya) is undertaken by the non-celibate right-believer (avirati samyagdristi) at the end of his gunasthana (spiritual stage), who is inclined towards the vow of restraint (samyama-desasamyama). The least degree of bondage of the four passions of deluding karma (pratyakhyanavarana) is undertaken by the person with the gunasthana of partial restraint (desavirata), who is inclined towards the vow of complete restraint (sarvavirata-mahavrata). The least degree of bondage of aversion (arati) and grief (shoka) is undertaken by the careless ascetic (pramatta muni) who is inclined towards the vow of non-negligent restraint (apramatta samyama) at the end of his gunasthana.
The summary is that the least degree of bondage of the eight karmas, such as sleep (styanaghrita), is undertaken by the person in the first gunasthana when he proceeds towards the fourth gunasthana by becoming inclined towards right belief. The least degree of bondage of the four passions of non-renunciation (apratyakhyanavarana) is undertaken by the person in the fifth gunasthana - devitisamyama, who is inclined towards the partial restraint vow and the complete restraint vow. The characteristic of the vow of partial restraint (desavirata) is "the partially restrained right-believer, who is inclined towards the partial restraint vow and the complete restraint vow, undertakes the least degree of bondage". Similarly, the partial restraint of the third set of four passions (trtiyakasayacatustaya) is "the one inclined towards the vow of restraint (samyamonnukha) undertakes the least degree of bondage of the vow of complete restraint and the partial restraint vow". And the careless ascetic (pramattamati) is inclined towards the vow of non-negligent restraint (apramattasamyama).
