सब्वोदि अपज्जत्तो पsखणं असंखगुणाए जोगवुड्कीए बड्ढईति । एक-एक स्थितिस्थान के कारण असंख्यात अध्यवसायस्थान होते हैं ।

स्थितिबंध के कारण कषायजन्य आत्मपरिणामों को अध्यबस स्थान कहते हैं। कषायों के तीव्र, तीव्रतर, तीव्रतम मंद, मंदतर, मंदतम रूप में उदय होने से अध्यवसायस्थानों के अनेक भेद हो जाते है । एक स्थितिबंध का कारण एक ही अध्यवसायस्थान नहीं है किन्तु अनेक अध्यवसायस्थान हैं । अर्थात् एक ही स्थिति नाना जीवों को नाना अध्यवसायस्थानों से बंधती है। जैसे कुछ व्यक्तियों ने दो सागर प्रमाण की देवायु का बंध किया हो, लेकिन यह आवश्यक नहीं कि उन सबके सर्वथा एक जैसे परिणाम हों । इसीलिए एक-एक स्थितिस्थान के कारण अध्यवसायस्थान असंख्यात लोकप्रमाण कहे जाते हैं ।
आयुकर्म के सिवाय ज्ञानावरण आदि सात कर्मों के अध्यवसायस्थान विशेषाधिक हैं। जैसे ज्ञानावरण कर्म की जघन्य स्थिति के कारण अध्यवसायस्थान सबसे कम हैं, उससे द्वितीय स्थितिस्थान के कारण अध्यवसाय अधिक हैं, उससे तृतीय स्थितिस्थान के कारण अध्यवसायस्थान अधिक हैं । इसी प्रकार चौथे, पांचवें यावत् उत्कृष्ट स्थितिस्थान तक समझना चाहिए। लेकिन इन सबका सामान्य से प्रमाण असंख्यात लोकप्रमाण ही है । ज्ञानावरण की तरह दर्शनावरण, बेदनीय, मोहनीय नाम, गोत्र और अंतराय कर्म की द्वितीय आदि स्थिति से लेकर अपने-अपने उत्कृष्ट स्थितिबंध पर्यन्त अध्यवसायस्थानों की संख्या अधिक अधिक जानना चाहिए।
लेकिन आयुकर्म के अध्यवसायस्थान उत्तरोत्तर असंख्यात गुणे हैं । अर्थात् चारों हो आयुकमों के जघन्य स्थितिबंध के कारण अध्यवसायस्थान असंख्यात लोक प्रमाण हैं और उसके बाद उनके दूसरे स्थितिबंध के कारण अध्यवसायस्थान उससे असंख्यात गुणे हैं,

The states of study are called "Aadhyavasaya Sthana" (states of study) due to the bondage of karma. The intensity of the passions (kṣayās) - intense, more intense, most intense, mild, milder, mildest - gives rise to numerous variations in the states of study. A single state of bondage does not lead to a single state of study, but rather to many. In other words, a single state binds different beings to different states of study. For example, some individuals may have bound themselves to a lifespan equivalent to two oceans, but it is not necessary that they all have the same exact results. Therefore, the states of study are said to be countless, as vast as the universe, due to the individual states of bondage.

Except for the karma of lifespan (āyu karma), the states of study for the other seven karmas - knowledge obscuration (jñānāvaraṇa), perception obscuration (darśanāvaraṇa), painful (vedanīya), delusion (mohaniya), name (nāma), lineage (gotra), and hindrance (antarāya) - are particularly numerous. For example, the state of study for the lowest state of knowledge obscuration is the least, the state of study for the second state is greater, and the state of study for the third state is even greater. This should be understood similarly for the fourth, fifth, and so on, up to the highest state of bondage. However, the general number for all of these is still countless, as vast as the universe. Similarly, for perception obscuration, painful, delusion, name, lineage, and hindrance karmas, the number of states of study increases from the second state to their respective highest states of bondage.

In other words, the states of study for the lowest state of bondage of all four lifespan karmas are countless, as vast as the universe, and the states of study for the second state of bondage are infinitely more numerous than that, and so on.
