The translation preserving the Jain terms is as follows:
In this way, after describing the bondage (sthitibandha) of the mūla and uttara prakṛtis through the various types of bhāṅgas (divisions), now the bondage in the guṇasthānas (spiritual stages) is being described.
Sāṇāi'appuravate aparanto koḍikoḍino na higo. Bandho na huhono na ya micche bhaviyarasannimī. (4)
Meaning:
Sāṇāi'appuravate - From the sāsādana (attainment) guṇasthāna up to the apūrvakaraṇa (extraordinary transformation) guṇasthāna,
Aparanto koḍikoḍino - Up to the antaḥkoḍākoḍī sāgaropama (innumerable oceans),
Na higo - There is no excessive (bondage),
Bandho - The bondage,
Na huhono - Does not occur,
Na ya - And also does not occur,
Micche - For the mithyādṛṣṭi (wrong-believer),
Bhaviyarasannimī - The bhavya (capable of liberation) saṃjñī (cognizant) and the abhavya (incapable of liberation) saṃjñī.
Gāthārtha (Meaning of the verse):
From the sāsādana guṇasthāna up to the apūrvakaraṇa guṇasthāna, the bondage does not exceed the antaḥkoḍākoḍī sāgaropama, and there is no inferior (hīna) bondage. The mithyādṛṣṭi, the bhavya saṃjñī, and the abhavya saṃjñī also do not have any inferior bondage.
Viśeṣārtha (Special meaning):
Earlier, the measure of the sthitibandha (bondage duration) was described in general and in comparison to the ekendriyas (one-sensed beings) etc. Now, in this gāthā, the measure of the sthitibandha is being stated in relation to the guṇasthānas, i.e., how much bondage occurs in each guṇasthāna.
Previously, the highest state of the karmas was stated to be seventy, thirty, and twenty koḍākoḍī sāgaropama. Out of that, sāṇāi'appuravate, i.e., from the second sāsādana guṇasthāna up to the eighth apūrvakaraṇa guṇasthāna, the bondage does not exceed the antaḥkoḍākoḍī sāgara. That is, the bondage occurring from the second to the eighth guṇasthāna is up to the antaḥkoḍā.
