मध्यमख्यात है। उसी प्रकार आगे जो किसी घस्य संख्या में से एक घटाने पर उसके पीछे की उत्कृष्ट संख्या बनती है और जघन्य में एक वो आदि की संख्या मिलाने से उसके सजातो उत्कृष्ट तक की बीच की संख्याएँ मध्यम होती हैं ।
सभी जघन्य और सभी उत्कृष्ट संख्याएँ एक-एक प्रकार की हैं; परन्तु मध्यम संख्याएँ एक प्रकार की नहीं हैं। मध्यम संख्यात संख्यात भेद, मध्यम असंख्यात के असंख्यात भेद और मध्यम अनन्त के अनन्त भेव हैं क्योंयि जघन्य या उत्कृष्ट संख्या का मतलब किसी एक नियत संख्या से हो है, पर मध्यम के विषय में यह बात नहीं । जघम्य और उत्कृष्ट संख्या के बीच संख्यात इकाइयाँ हैं, जय और उस्कृष्ट असंख्यात के बीच अर्शल्पात इकाइयाँ हैं एवं neru और उत्कृष्ट अनन्त के बीच अनन्त इकाइयां हैं, जो क्रमशः ' मध्यम वयात 'मध्यम असंख्यात' और 'मध्यम अनग्न' कहलाती है ।
शास्त्र में जहाँ-कहीं अनश्वानन्त का व्यवहार किया गया यह सब जगह मध्यम अनन्तानन्त से ही मतलब है ।
