'भावान्मा भूत्तव भयमित्यर्थः । यद्यस्मात् नव च नवतिं च स्रवन्तीः एकोनशतसङ्ख्याकाः प्रवहन्तीर्नदीः प्राप्य रजांसि तत्रत्यान्युदकान्यतरः तीर्णवानसि। तत्र दृष्टान्तः । श्येनो न । श्येननामको बलवान् पक्षीव दूरगमनात्तव भयमासीदिति गम्यते । तद्भयं मा भूदित्यभिप्रायः । तच्च दूरगमनं ब्राह्मणे समाम्नातम् ।

The name Śrisūkta is applied to a collection of hymns occurring in the Ṛgvēda and dedicated to Śri, the Goddess of Fortune. It is one of the thousand Sūktās belonging to the Ṛgvēda. It is placed at the end of the fifth Mandala and is printed in the Preface to Rgveda, Vol. III, by Professor Max Müller, with some additional verses addressed to gods Siva and Visnu, at the end of which
eomes the following line : एतान्यननन्तनामानि मण्डलान्ते सदा जपेत् ॥ The Srisukta is referred to in the Bōdhayana's Grhya in the following passage : हिरण्यवर्णां हरिणीमिति पञ्चदशर्चं श्रीसूक्तम् ।
The Śrīsūkta is recited by the Brahmans belonging to the Sama Vēda also. But there is a separate Sukta among them, the text of which is entirely different and is mentioned in the following passage Sunder the same name :
श्रीसूक्तं घृतसूक्तं च भूसूक्तं पुरुषसूक्तकम् । वारुणं पञ्चशान्तिश्च ब्राह्मं रौद्रञ्च सूक्तकन् ॥
