धनदो धनाथिनां प्रोक्तः कामिनां सर्वकामदः । धर्म एवापवर्गस्य पारम्पर्येण साधकः ॥
Dharma bestows materialistic prosperity on those who seek it. It bestows sensual and physical enjoyments on those who seek them. It bestows heavenly life on those who seek it, and it bestows Moksha on those who aspire for it.
वचनाद्यदनुष्ठानमविरुद्याद्ययोदितम् । मैत्र्यादिभावसंयुक्तं तद्धर्म इति कीर्त्यते ॥
The spiritual austerities, carried out with the lofty emotions of amity, compassion, love and neutrality; and in accordance with the scriptural prescriptions which are free from contradictions and inconsistencies, are glorified as Dharma (constitute Dharma).
