Most of us forget this as an unintentional, unfortunate event, but some cannot forget, and relationships get strained. How do we handle such a situation? If people are sensitive to other people's feelings, they will remember that just as we can be hurt by someone's careless words and actions so can our words hurt others." It was getting late and I had to return to my evening meditation. I said, “Sudharma, knowledge alone cannot resolve such problems. A hurt individual would find solace only in sympathy and limitless compassion. If people are sensitive to Such considerations as senior-junior, other people's feelings, they guru-disciple, wise-stupid, childwill remember that just as we can be hurt by someone's parent, learned-uneducated, careless words and actions husband-wife, or who is right and so can our words hurt others. who is wrong, do not matter in compassionate behavior. These are all insignificant. All that matters is the selfless love for one another. In a loving relationship, mutual mistakes, problems, hurts, and insults all disappear. We are then left with only the singular determinant to 'never hurt anyone.' Compassionate behavior automatically takes us to the next step, where we proactively share our happiness and someone's pain. This is the motto of our sangh – Parasparograhe Savva Jivanam.'
