: The text of Viscşāvasyakabháşya with the commentary by Maladhari Hemacandra (published by Yashovijaya Jaina Grantbamālā in Vira Sarat 2411) has been edited by Pt. Haragovindadasa. It is well printed. This edition is almost without any misprint. The editor has given no description of the mss. utilized. But it seems that he has utilized five. mss. Again, it is almost certain that before him there was noms. which we have used for the first time.
: The text of Višeșāvašyakabhāșya with the commentary by Kotrācārya.published by Rşabhadevaji Keśarimalji, Ratlam, A, D. 1930) has been edited by Suri Shri Anandasagaraji. It is to be noted that the name of the editor has not been mentioned there. This edition also is correct. Even the editor of this work has neither given the variant readings nor mentioned the inss, utilised. Moreover,
this editor too seems not to have utilised ms. $. 5. : So far as we know this is the only palm-leaf is. available of
the autc-commentary on Višeşivaśyakabhāşya. It belongs to the Sanghavi-l'ādā Jaina Bhandāra at Patan. It bears the No. 105. (Vide Descriptive Catalogue of Manuscripts in the Jaina Bhandaras at Patan, G. U. S., No. LXXVI, p. 246). The title of the ms. given in the Catalogue is Viseșāvasyakalaghuvstti. It contains 275 leaves; its size is 33.!" x 2". Mistakes foucd in the ms. seems to be the result of the copyist's ignorance of the script of the ms, on wbich the present ms. is based. This ms, is transcribed in V. S. 1491 at Stambhatirtha (Cambay). Muni Sbri Punyavijayaji's attention was drawn to this rare ms. and hence he got it copied years ago. He i; so kind and generous that he handed over to me tbis cipy for the preparation of the critical edition of an invaluable auto-commentary hitherto unpublished.
At places this ins. is very corrapt. This is because the copyist mistook one letter for the other, when he copied this ms. from some other ms. I have prepared a list of the letters lie mistook for others and have given it below. A glance at this list will give an idea, to the reader, of the difficulties that I have experienced in arriving at correct readings of the text. Tbus ny task of correcting the text is made more difficult by the situation that no other ins. of this text is available. In spite of all these obstacles in my work, I have attempted to arrive at the correct readings with the help of the two cominentaries which are based on this auto-commentary.
