The third Prakash of the Yogashastra has 156 verses containing three short vows (3194) and four learning vows (1978EA). It also deals with the evil effect of eating meat, honey and ficus glomerata (3546). The fourth Prakash dwells on the unity of the soul, three gem (HTESGA ARTISIN chalat) and describes the nature of worldly life and ultimate emancipation from it in 136 verses. The passions (291) being born out of attachment and aversion are the root causes of worldly life. After giving analytical explanation of these passions (2014), the author treats of the necessity of the purity of mind; the means of overcoming attachment and aversion like four sentiments (197) and twelve other sentiments. It is aptly said that Yogashastra is an ocean which, when churned with the rod of mind, yilds the nectar in the form of equanimity and provides the first named experience of mental equilibrium to us. Yogashastra forins the basis of both cognition and life with the result that the life lived without cognition of Yogashastra will be prone to harmfulness. Yoga is the technical term which refers to those tremors and ripples arising in the region of the soul by external and internal causes.
