Vajpayeeji expressed a desire that we should organize international interfaith conferences from time to time to propagate . the message of Bhagwan Mahavir and especially the three tenets of Bhagwan Mahavir viz. Ahimsa, Anekant and Aparigraha (AAA) which are so relevant in the present world which is beset with the maladies of fundamentalism, consumerism and terrorism.
WJC had co-sponsored the Ahimsa Year Conference held; in New Jersey on 13/14 April 2002 initiated by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, New York branch and Shri Pratap Bhogilal had occasion to participate in it also. Since then he had visited Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, London where he met a number of friends with whom he discussed the formation of WJC and all of them were very happy that such an organization had been formed and promised their support in all possible ways. Apart from this, similar conferences have been organized earlier and also co-sponsored with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Conference in New Jersey, USA entitled 'Ahimsa Year'.
WJC had organized jointly with the Institute of Jainology in London in October 2003 a function to celebrate 'Ahimsa Day' in the House of Commons in London, UK. The host of the conference was British MP Mr. Stephen Pound-Chairman of Labour Friends of India and the function was attended by MPs, both Labour and Conservative and the High Commissioner of India to the UK, H.E. Mr. Ronen Sen was the Chief Guest. Five sets of the following 9 books were presented to the host viz. the Labour MP, the Conservative MP, to the Libraries of the House of Commons and the House of Lords and also to the Indian High Commission. This Ahimsa Day is celebrated every year in London since then.
