________________ Editor's Note Virchand Raghavji Gandhi was born on August 25, 1964 in Mahuva (Saurashtra) and died on August 7, 1901 in Mumbai. During his life time, he authored an essay in Gujarati and translated a volume into English. In 1886 he wrote an essay in Gujarati about the evil practices such as breast - beating, when a person dies. The volume he translated from French into English was 'Unknown life of Jesus Christ', which was published in 1884 in Chicago. Besides these two works, his unpublished articles and lectures were published posthumously. The Jain Philosophy, The Karma Philosophy, The Yoga Philosophy, The Systems of Indian Philosophy are works in English and the translated work Saviryadhyan in Gujarati was published after his death. : Unknown Life of Jesus Christ is translated from the French into English based on an ancient manuscript. Virchand Gandhi visited America in 1893 and the English translation was published in 1894. The book is based on manuscripts retrieved from a Tibet monastery. Some researchers believe that Tibet is the repository of human civilisation since its beginning and in the manuscripts in Tibetian monastery is stored ancient knowledge. Recently Tibet's ancient literature was subjected to extensive study when researches were undertaken to locate Astapada, the nirvanbhumi of Bhagwan Rushabhdev. As a result, valuable materials, related to the ancient religions of Tibet and Jainism, were discovered.
