Endless invention, endless experiment, Brings knowledge of motion but not of stillness; Knowledge of speech but not of silence, Knowledge of words, and ignorance of the Word. All our knowledge bring us nearer to ignorance, All our ignorance brings us nearer to death, But nearness to death no nearer to God. Where is the life we have lost in living ? Where is he wisdom we have lost in Knowledge ? Where is the knowledge we have lost in information ? The cycle of Heaven in twenty centuries, Brings us farther from God and nearer to Dust ! It would amount to saying the obvious if we discuss the problems of arms race and impending muclear threat. We are all aware of the problem of crime and delinguency, immorality and neuroses, smashed homes and broken hearts, and alcoholism. To top all these is the growing problem of violence, terrorism, poverty, ignorance and disease. The Scientific Bhasmasura has put his hand over the Mother Earth. Man weeps in the darkness of his own creation. Then there is the other voice that comes from times immemorial. The Mahanarayana Upanishad raises this Voice and says : Listen, hearken, O children of Immortality, who dwell in these celestial region, I have known and scen and experienced that Supreme Spirit, who is beyond the darkness of all illusions and delusions. Only by knowing Him does one pass over death; there is no other way to the Supreme Goal. Narayana is the Supreme Brahman, the supreme truth, the supreme light, the supreme soul.
