Ages back India was termed Jambudvipa or Bharatkhanda. The name Hindu was subsequently derived from the name Indus a river. Jain books many a time refer to Jambudvipa. There are two divisions namely Aryan and non Aryan. That country which was inhabited by people of spiritual and religious sentiments was styled Āryan.
