Yajnapati, who lived from c. 1410 to 1470, is the author of the earliest extant commentary on the Tattvacintamani by Gangesa (c. 14th century). Bhattacharya's edition is based upon a transcript copy of a unique iranuscript in the Darbhanga Raj Library, dated 1486 A.D. The editor has also used several unpublished commentaries on the anumana section of the Tattvacintamani. His detailed analysis (pp. 19-50) will be useful in the study of this difficult text in which many textual problems remain to be solved.
