________________ Naya-karnikā word and the sense, but not entirely, some of the qualities being in the background or not yet realized. Similarly, the sabda is also true to the word and the sense, but not so true as the samabhirūḍha, since it throws a larger number of qualities into the background than the last-named standpoint. Thus each of these nayas is purer than each preceding one, although they all belong to the same type, more or less. INTER-RELATION BETWEEN THE SAID STANDPOINTS, THEIR IMPORTANCE AND DIVISIONS: 236 antar fayer: zyciun: erarasî aen I एकैकः स्याच्छतं भेदास्ततः सप्तशताप्यमी ।। १९ ।। yathottaram viśuddhāḥ syur nayāḥ saptāpyamī tathā | ekaikaḥ syacchatam bhedas tataḥ saptasatapy ami || 19 [yathottaram in regular order or succession, one by one; visuddhāḥ pure; syuh would be; nayāḥ standpoints; sapta seven; api also; ami these; tatha and; ekaikaḥ each of them; syāt would be; satam a hundred; bhedāḥ divisions; tataḥ therefore; saptasata seven hundred; api also; ami these ]. Each succeeding standpoint of these seven nayas is purer than the preceding one; each of them has a hundred sub-divisions; therefore there are seven hundred nayas (in all). 19. अथैवंभूतसमभिरूढयोः शब्द एव चेत् । अन्तर्भावस्तदा पञ्च नय-पञ्चशतीभिदः ।। २० ।। athaivambhūta-samabhirūḍhayoḥ śabda eva cet | antarbhāvas tada pañca naya-pañca-satibhidaḥ 11 20 [atha but, evambhūta-samabhirūḍhayoḥ of the evambhūta and samabhirūḍha nayas; sabde in the sabda Jain Education International For Personal & Private Use Only www.jainelibrary.org
