________________
The above list is quite sufficient to show the multifarious knowledge of Malayagiri the commentator of the present book. His commentary is very exhaustive besides being a compendium of learning. Malayagiri occupies a very eminent place as a commentator as whatever subjects he has taken up are commented upon by him after a careful study thereof. He has never treated any of his subjects commented upon in a slipshod or off-hand manner and therefore it is quite natural he has been given such a high place as a commentator. The present work Kammapayadi has been commented upon by the following commentators, which commentaries are also available.
A commentary (Vritti) of 13000 Slokas composed by Yashovijaya Upadhyâya who flourished Al in the seventeenth century and who commanded the highest respect and veneration from the Jains of
his time and whose reputation as a student of logic and as an authority on several important topics, has remained absolutely unabated even up to the present time. The trustees of Sheth Devchand Lalbhai funds hope to publish this commentary also in the near future as it is both useful and exhaustive.
A commentary ( Chürni) of about 7000 Slokas on the present book. Unfortunately the author's name is not yet found out as some of this Chūrni which are available at present are generally! incomplete. After this was sent to the press, we have learnt that a manuscript embodying the whole commentary is available in the Cambay library ( PHT). We have not yet seen it and there. fore cannot give the name of the author.
