AN IDEAL HIGH-SOULED
(Shri R.P. Pandey)
Among the great Jain Acharyas of the last few years Shri Jayant Sen Surishwarji Maharaj enjoys a very prominent and distinguished place, especially in Tristutik Sangh. He is favourite with both the old and the young of the Jainas.
Over last fifteen years I have been very close to the Jain saints teaching them many subjects. Luckily I have come in contact with various Acharyas in this regard. But I am much impressed to see that this holy saint is leading the ideal life of a Jain Sadhu carrying out all the injunctions prescribed by the scriptures. He is carrying on a crusade in his inimitable way for the educational and social uplift of this Jain Samgh. He is going on foot village to village, town to town, city to city through out India keeping the mission for social welfare with the consecration of image of Lord Tirthankras and late respected Gurudevas in the temples.
This praiseworthy enthusiasm unusual for multifarious social activities for an ordinary Jain Sadhu, he has inharited from his great Gurudev Yateendra Suriji Maharaj.
I see Acharya Shri seems to believe that it is no use merely preaching religion to a Samgh, that is socially and psychologically not prepared to receive it. An understanding and a happy mind can alone absorb and live upto the great tenets of Jain philosphy and he is dedicated to creating that.
This Jainacharya's heart is pure, clean and full of Pity for all creatures. I have seen him very nearly and feel that his thoughts, ideas and perceptions are quite natural broad and lofty. He is very simple, wearing Khadi. But he is fearless and outspoken in his views. Despite this disciplined and objective outlook, he is tender and soft to the distressed and unhappy. During his chaturmas he always urges the generous persons to contribute large sums for the welfare and betterment of the aggrived.
His bold and impressive voice attracts everybody when he preaches earnestly-"A man may become a

scholar, a scientist, an artist or a politician but he can't be famous and reverent for all unless he is polite. Self control is not possible without endurence, relinquishment is not possible without self control and self confidence is impossible without relinqishment. Friendship and brotherhood are the boons of the life. If we can not make anyone happy and healthy how can we have the right to make him unhappy or to give him offence. I can not shower curses instead of blessings".
I feel amply honoured by getting a chance to teach his disciples, and I always find him firmly seated talking obout the real path of the life to the people around him. The people are not only from Jainism but from different casts and religions. Everybody touches his feet with great reverence and faith. There are lot of persons who swear before Acharya Shri, not to drink, not to smoke, not to eat non-vegetable foods, even not to attend the feasts wherein such things are to be served. Such is the magic and power of his holy person.
Acharya Shriji has inspiring and creative ideas. His thoughts are a light to the misguided and wavering youth and new coming generation. He attempts his task with full courage and keeping trust in holy Gurudevas and gets the goal. His glorious life will be a myth for coming
era.
In present time this learned, ideal, benevolent, vigilant and most respected saint is guiding up the train of Tristutik Sangh by his magnificence on the path of truth, non-voilence and purity. All my well wishes and prayers are for his better health and long life on the occasion of the completion of 50th bright mile of his life. It is truly said by Akhil Bhartiya Rajendra Jain Navyuwak Parishad that they are performing only their duty to publish an Abhinandan granth on this silver Jubilee function.
