________________ Piyush Baid, XI-SC be, are careers or carriers? What we are trying for are our careers or our carriers. Are we competing for our Carriers or careers? The difference between the two is better known by each of us because the difference is psychological rather than physical. What is a career for one may be only a carrier for millions of others? A career denotes a mission in life whereas a carrier is only a medium for going through daily life. Carrier is something you merely pass through ; but career is the golden goal of your life. Carrier leads to your career but a career leads to nowhere else. Career is the be all and end all of your life. Carrier is something you merely pass through to go somewhere else but career is your home where you stay, put for the rest of your life without caring for the rewards or the awards. Education is your Carrier because it takes you to some destination which you have chosen to invest your life in which indeed is your career. But if you are in education with a will to help others, to help them build careers and help them find destiny in life then it is a career not a carrier. One may make tons of money or may be completely impoverised. Careerists come into that category. A living example is afforded by Max Muller. He was an ordinary scholar and earned his living by translation works and by teaching, but to him his career was to translate the Vedas and other scriptures, in which he was gloriously successful. True Careerist is a celestial gambler. He may become affluent or he may miserably fail, but he is ready to sacrifice his all for the dice of his idealistic ambition in life. CAREER OR CARRIER ? In this rapid changing world of today there seems to be a constant race going among individuals for pursuing a career. Some of us are thinking to become engineers, some are dreaming to becom C.C.'s and so on. But, in reality what we aspire as our goals to हीरक जयन्ती स्मारिका विद्यार्थी खण्ड / १७ Jain Education International For Private & Personal Use Only www.jainelibrary.org
