EDITOR ON BBC RADIO 4 कर्ना Photo courtesy of Smt. Sharayu Daftary id you think Jain Spirit was just for Jains? You will be surprised. One sunny day, a BBC Radio 4 researcher made an exploratory call saying that they would like the Jain viewpoint on a Radio 4 programme on 'The Body' as part of the Beyond Belief series. As you know, Radio 4 is the most prominent 'intellectual' station in the UK, widely listened to by teachers, scholars, writers, artists, editors and thinkers of all kinds. We sent them a copy of the magazine, and guess what - they jumped at the chance of inviting the Editor as they were so impressed by the magazine. He was pitted against a poet and an anthropologist to discuss subjects like health, dying and the link between mind and body. The programme is on the Radio 4 website and you can still listen to it by going to: http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/ programmes/beyond_belief/index. shtml and listening to the 7 February Broadcast on 'The Body'. . 26 January 2005: India's Republic Day Celebrations, Delhi: Every year a parade of floats are displayed to represent each state in the country.
