This Kalnela deva was the disciple of Ēlacārya He was called astăpavasi and set up the nisidige of his guru Elācarya and must have been the contemporary of Ereya This inscription is assigned by R. Narasimhachar to c. 910 A C. Another inscription in the same report at the same place (p. 38) refers to Nēmıcandra (c 900 A. C) the disciple of Sridhara of Hanasõge valı, Dēsi gana, Pustaka gaccha. E. C IV No 28 refers to Ēlācārya of the same gana and gachha as the disciple of Sridhara Referring to Sridhara of Pustaka gachha of the Dēsi gana are the following : Purņa candra. Dāmanandi Elācārya. Sridharācarya -Sridhara dēva Maladhari dēva . Candrakirti. 1099 A, D... [Kelnele dēva. ] Dıvākara Jayakırtı Tamil tradition says that one Elāchārya was the guru of Tiruvalluvar to whom Kural 1s attributed, Hırālál (Cat, Skt Pkt in C P. and Berar) says that Hēlacārya is the propagator of Jvālāmalını worship MER 416 of 1929 says that Elacārya was a native of Homa grāma near Nilagiri.
