जैन विद्या के क्षेत्र में जैन जर्नल का एक महनीय योगदान और भी है वह है जनवरी १९७० (जिल्द ४, नम्बर ३) में प्रकाशित जैन धर्म के प्रकाण्ड मनीषी जर्मनी के दिवंगत डाक्टर शुबिंग का विशेषांक । इसका मूल्य रक्खा गया है केवल एक रुपया । इस अंक की विषय सूची निम्न प्रकार है सम्पादकीय, प्रोफेसर एफ. आर. हाम द्वारा प्रोफेसर शूबिंग पर लेख, डावटर अमूल्य चन्द्र सेन ( जो जर्मनी में प्रोफेसर शूबिंग के पास जैन धर्म के अध्ययन के हेतु गये थे) द्वारा प्रोफेसर शूबिंग के अनेक रोचक संस्मरण । डाक्टर सेन शांति निकेतन (बंगाल ) में इन पंक्तियों के लेखक के सहाध्यायी रह चुके हैं । जर्मनी से लौटने पर वे 'इन्डो-एशियन जर्नल' के सम्पादक रहे। उनके शोध प्रबन्ध का विषय था 'क्रिटिकल इन्ट्रोडक्शन टू प्रश्न व्याकरण'। इसके अतिरिक्त इस अंक में प्रोफेसर क्लौस ब्रन एवं चन्द्रभाल त्रिपाठी, क्लौस फिशर, लिओना स्मिथ क्रेमसर आदि विद्वानों के महत्वपूर्ण लेख सम्मिलित है। सभी लेख आज भी उतने ही उपादेय है जितने आज से २१ वर्ष पूर्व थे। हमारी समझ में जैन जर्नल के इस महत्वपूर्ण अंक को पुस्तक के रूप में प्रकाशित किया जा सके तो अत्यन्त उपयोगी होगा।
जर्नल के सुयोग्य संपादक श्री गणेश ललवानी जी के सम्पादकत्व में जैन जर्नल अपनी रजत जयन्ती मनाने जा रही है। इस अवसर पर हमारी हार्दिक शुभ कामनायें जर्नल के अधिकारियों एवं लेखकों के साथ है। हम इसकी उन्नति कामना करते हैं।

It is no easy task to keep such a scholarly enterprise active for so long a period. Under your able and uninterrupted supervision, the Journal has served the community of scholars by providing a unique platform for publication of original research on Jainism. The arrival in the last decade of thousands of Jain families in Europe and North America has stimulated an unprecedented interest in the study of their heritage. As the only Indian publication of its kind available in English, I believe that the Jain Journal has a major role to play in sustaining this interest in the past and in promoting an unbiased understanding of the manifold aspects of the Jain tradition. Please accept my warm felicitations and best wishes for many more years of scucessful editing of the Journal.
