He made recommendations as to how JAINA website may be organized and offered his assistance in this task. Membership Guidelines: Sushil Jain led a brief discussion on this topic and requested that every one provide their comments. In the interest of time EC members will provide their written comments by e-mail by "Reply to All" for compilation. The EC noted that there are no dues for JAINA affiliate members. After a long deliberation, EC passed a resolution (EC03-006) that an affiliate member dues will be $100 per year effective Jan 2005. However, the dues for 2003 will be $50 effective July 2003. The Jain Visa Oshwal Group requested affiliate membership to JAINA. The EC will be mailed a copy of the package for deliberation at next teleconference. Constitution Committee: A discussion was led by Sushil Jain to consolidate comments and suggestions. The EC members deleted comments and suggestions that did not warrant inclusion into constitution or the by-laws. The committee also agreed not to prioritize suggestions. The constitution committee will deliberate based on their research into each suggestion and make recommendations to EC. JAINA Logo: Anop Vora led a discussion to review the current JAINA logo. One of Acharyajis in India pointed out that JAINA logo is out of proportion and recommended that JAINA should correct it. After a careful deliberation, including advantages and disadvantages a resolution (EC03-007) was passed to accept the JAINA logo as is and promote it with brief explanation as applicable. JAINA Patron Program: Udai Jain reported that over 50 individuals have signed up in support of the program. As a result JAINA has generated pledges of over $60K, of which over $45k has already been collected. He informed of the confusion regarding the Patron program and JAINA Charitable Trust program. The EC members had healthy discussion regarding the question. In conclusion, everyone agreed that we should encourage donors to contribute and support at least one program. Ultimately both programs are set up in support of JAINA activity. Wheel of Hope: Kirit Daftary made a slide presentation of committee's accomplishments since Oct 2003. At the end of presentation he presented a plaque that JAINA received from World Medical Relief for support, dedication and contribution to the needy. Liability Umbrella policy: Kirit Daftary announced that he is working with Chandrakant Shah and Pravin Vakhani to obtain quotations from various sources. The EC authorized Kirit to spend up to $2500 or less and proceed with the policy purchase ASAP to cover JAINA officers and representatives. 4/ JAIN DIGEST⚫ Spring 20004 Jain Education International 2010_03 Teerthoddhar Committee: Kirit Daftary reported that this committee will soon meet its objective of donating $25K. This project was very successful and, as a result, the organizers in India are building additional schools. He further stated that JAINA is being recognized for the support we provide. He thanked every one for their continued support. YJA Committee: Chirag Shah and Nisha Jain presented a very comprehensive report. They announced that the initial preregistration response is very good. They expect that the convention will be sold out very soon. The convention will focus on religion, mini series, and social services on topics such as "Young Jains to see, to know, to realize Jainism." Chirag reported that there were multiple well attended mini regional conventions during the month of Nov and Dec. He closed by presenting a brief description of upcoming projects. Nisha, in charge of fund raising for YJA appealed to all and their respective Jain Society to financially support YJA efforts. YJP Committee: Shilpa Shah and Jitesh Mehta outlined YJP mission, goals and objectives. He outlined how they will accomplish their goals as well as announced the names of new leadership and their roles. She presented the details of local leader program, community service program, past events and planned future events. For additional details, please visit. www.yiponline.org. Education Committee: Pravin Shah presented the details of financial transactions conducted during this year. He informed that there is a worldwide demand for JAINA books. He added that his committee maintains that none of the material published by his committee is copywrited. People may duplicate as they wish on honor system. He described the books in print now and gave release dates. He thanked many members of his team for their hard work, especially Narendrabhai of Chicago for designing book covers. JAINA Public Affairs Council: Sushil Jain reported that his team is working on a multimedia presentation regarding "JAINS and JAINA in Action in North America." He contacted many committees and requested chairs and Jain Society to send short video or pictures for inclusion, if not already done so. The JAINA members took part in two Washington area conferences; first titled "Compelled to Relationship - What does your scriptures say about it".
