________________ HEADQUARTERS NEWS.... JAINA AWARDS JAINA gives out awards at every convention to recognize the individuals who have contributed significantly in line with the principles of Jainism. Three types of awards to be issued and their numbers are as follows: 1. JAINA Ratna (1) 2. JAINA Adult Recognition Awards (10) 3. JAINA Youth Recognition Awards (5) The awards will depend upon the criteria shown below. We request individuals and Jain Centers to nominate those who meet these criteria by filling out a nomination form available from Kamlesh Amin. Please return the form with the supporting documents to the JAINA Headquarters, P.O.Box 700, Getzville, NY 14068 before April 15th, 2003. The committee consisting of Anop Vora (Chairman), Dr. Dilip T. Shah (Vice Chairman), Dr. Mahendra Mehta, Dr. Parveen Jain, and Ms. Suchita Shah will review the nominations and make the selections. Any living and practicing Jain residing in North America is eligible for any of these awards. JAINA RATNA AWARD CRITERIA 1. Use of time and/or personal financial resources for JAINA. Creative programs to meet the needs of member societies of JAINA. 2. Demonstrate large contribution of time and/or money for the local Jain Society. 3. Publishing articles, lecturing, and teaching and displaying unselfish devotion for advancement of JAINISM 4. Enlist the intellect, heart and financial support of the community-at-large to fulfill JAINA MISSION based upon NON SECTARIAN approach. 5. Practitioner of major tenets of Jainism like AHIMSA, ANEKANTVAD, APARIGRAH and ANUKAMPA 6. Good natured, kind, honest and humble. A visionary with High level of personal character and integrity 7. Top 10 personal achievements (not related to business or one's profession) 8. Participation in interfaith activities JAINA ADULT RECOGNITION AWARD CRITERIA 1. Use of time and/or personal financial resources for JAINA. Creative programs to meet the needs of member societies of JAINA. 2. Publishing articles, lecturing, and teaching and displaying unselfish devotion for advancement of JAINISM 3. Demonstrate large contribution of time and/or money for the local Jain Society. 4.
