________________ COMMITTEE NEWS.... JAINA World Community Services JAINA HUMANITARIAN WORK GETS MOMENTUM IN INDIA THROUGH WHEELS OF HOPE-MEDICAL PROGRAM! During month of Dec and January, Ramesh Shah, Director of WoH made a visit to India to analyze and observe firsthand the impact of last two (2) years of shipping medical equipment and supplies to various hospitals and clinics. WoH did visit number of places in Gujarat. Following is the summary: RAJKOT: Dhiarajbhai and I were guests at Medical BUS "Keys and Title Handing" over ceremony at "LIFE" Building in presence of more than 100 guests. WoH has started supplying medical equipment and supplies through Rajkot Blood Bank. Also we visited Young Star Blood Bank and Rajkot Voluntary Blood Bank and offered them Blood Centrifuge Machines and Refrigerator. Blood Bank has printed beautiful and artistic 4 page brochures with Photos for WoH. 8/JAIN DIGEST Spring 2003 Jain Education International 2010_03 ⚫ VADODARA: I was invited at Inauguration Ceremony of Diagnostic Center at Premdas Jalaram Hospital. WoH has supplied CT Scan Machine, X-ray Machine and Mammogram Machine to help them to start this center. WoH also visited United Way of Baroda to establish the relationship to help 30 more Non-Government Organizations (NGO's) through them. DISA: With help of our President Bipinbhai, W.o.H has been instrumental to start a medical camp for 2 days. Dr. Manibhai Mehta and Dr. Dinesh Shah along with USA volunteers provided badly needed medical services. A Wheels of Hope INA WORLD COMMUN SERVICES BOMBAY: I met the board of trustees of Hira-Mongi Navneet Hospital run by Pragati Foundation. This is a brand new hospital with 160 beds located in Mulund having state of art physical and medical facility. They have requested W.o.H. help in locating expensive medical equipment through donations in USA so they can save crores of rupees in start-up costs. Lion Tara Bapas Hospital in Sion already started using all our beds and mattresses and asked for more surgical and lab supplies. ⚫ SHRAMA YATRA-II: 10 youth from YJA worked at Veerayatan at Bhuj in administrative capacity helping Sadhvi Shri Shilapiji and 3 worked at BIDADA 29th Medical Camp. Also. They did "Vruksha Ropan" (Tree Planting) at Community Center of Vardhamannagar project outside Bhuj. BIDADA,Kutch: W.o.H. donated eye lenses and more wheel chairs for 29th Medical camp. They are planning to send Mukesh Doshi, their Prosthetist and Orthotist consultant to USA in July to select the equipment for their newly built Rehabilitation Center.
