________________ Events: At the regional level, we will encourage regional conventions/retreats as a way to bring together the youth of that region. We will use a series of Foster Focus Projects to bring together large/average sized communities of Jain youth, while implementing a new idea of People to People for smaller groups. This will promote strong local Jain organizations where none or weak organizations exist. These projects will begin in January to be completed during a six month span and presented at the JAINA Convention in Toronto. The cities that will be participating are: Miami Which will create a book with essays, poems, and pieces of literature (Jain related) that the Youth have written across the country and compile them into a book. If the demand exists, we will publish the books. Boston - Which will compile pictures for the YJA Scrapbook, to be displayed at Toronto. General Information: Last Name: Permanent Address: City: Tel [Home]: Local Jain Center: Educational Information: Check One: School: City: Tel [Work]: ) School Name: Young Professional Information: Current Employer/Company: Business Address: University of Michigan- Which will ask different cities to create small displays about Jainism for the JAINA Convention in Toronto (similar to what Atlanta did for YJA convention). Signature: The People to People works by targeting small cities with youth groups that are smaller then 12 people. They are assigned to put together some kind of drive. This drive has to benefit the community around them and they have to actually get together and make some type of project that will benefit their community (e.g. putting together sack lunches for the 18 Jain Education International homeless or decorating cookies for people in nursing homes). These drives should happen during the winter months. And after the drive they shall send in pictures of what and how they accomplished their task. These pictures shall be compiled into the Scrapbook. Toledo and Minneapolis are the two current cities that will participate in this project. The deadline for additional cities is Oct 12.
