________________ JAIN SANGHA OF MOMBASA CELEBRATES GOLDEN JUBILEE Mombasa, Kenya. The golden Jubilee celebrations of Jain Sangha of Mombasa, organised from September 7 - 29,1987 in this second largest city of Kenya in east Africa, was marked with a variety of religious, social and cultural events. Acharya Sushil Kumar was specially invited by the Jain Sangh as the Chief Guest at the celebrations. Amarendra Muni, Shanti and Saraswati from Siddhachalam also attended the celebrations. The golden jubilee celebration honouring of Acharya Sushil K were concluded on September 29 with ar and Amarendra Muni. ACHARYA SUSHIL KUMAR TOURS EAST AFRICA A series of lectures, meetings, private appointments and house blessings were some of the highlights of Acharya Sushil Kumar's tour of east Africa.Im Mombasa, the Mayor Mr Mwidain had a personal meeting with Acharya in addition to a series of lectures delivered daily at various places. On September 15, a 12-hour Namokar Mantra was conducted from dusk to dawn. And on the 18th, Acharya fully participated in the golden Jubilee celebrations. On September 21, Curuji arrived at Tanga in Tanzanisa where he delivered lecture. From Tanga, Curuji left for Dar es Salam where he addressed various gatherings during his 3-day visit. On 25th, Curuji flew to Nairobi, the capital of Kenya where guruji gave lectures at Jain and Oswal societies. Acharya Sushil Kumar's east African tour from September 7 to 29 was successful in rejuvenating Jain Spirituality among the Jains in this part of the world. DR DEJAMMA ELECTED PRESIDENT OF AINATA Delhi. The Annual Teachers Award, instituted by govt of India, is an Award given to teachers in India in recognition of an outstanding contribution to education and student development. The National awardee teachers have a society, called All India National Awardee Teachers Association - AINATA, to strengthen the process of education and growth through continued dedication. Dr Dejamma is the first Jain to be elected President of such a national organisation. The 2-day convention held on September 4 - 5,1987 at the Constitution Club under the Presidentship of Dr Dejamma was attended by many dignatories including K.L. Kapoor, Lt. Gov. of Delhi and Dr K.L.
