________________ JAIN SOCIETY OF W GERMANY PLANS IN ACTION Ihringen, W Germany. Cerman pioneering in the massive translation of Jain philosophical works led to further studies of Jain Religion by western philosophers and scholars. The same vibrant zeal and movement are underway. Marks Mossner, the Editor of Der Jain Pfad, a bi-mensual Jain magazine in German, seems following this movement, and plans are being put into action to establish Jain Society of W Germany. Mr Mossner observes, "Here in Germany, there is a very small number of Jains, and to cater to them in their growing Faith, I have started the Jain magazine. Now we have plans to establish our Jain Society of west Germany." Further info, interested individuals can write to: Mr Marks Mossner, Bahnhofstr.5., 7817 Thringen, West Germany. DR VILAS SANGHAVE SPEAKS ON DYNAMISM & STRENGTHS OF JAINISM Kolhapur, MR. One of India's best socialogist, Dr Vilas Sanghave was invited to address at a function organised to felicitate sri Laxmisena Bhattarak of Kolhapur Jain Mutt, Maharashtra. Dr Sanghave delivered the theme of his talk in a refreshing line of thoughts why Jain Religion is still dynamic in addressing the issues of world problems as hunger, proliferation of arsenals and social injustices. He drew the attention to the principles and preachings of Syadvada, Samyama, Aparigraha, Ahimsa and vegetarianism as taught by Tirthankaras since centuries and centu ries, and explained the applications of the principles in addressing these problems. "Budhism and Jain Religion, born in India, enjoyed supremacy through centuries, and only Jain Religion survived though its influence waned," Dr Sanghave explained, and further he observed, "that Jainism survived in India due to its positive internal strenghts and the dynamism of its philosophy and the practise of it by its followers." To the Jina who has conquered fear, who has conquered all afflictions, who has conquered sensual vexations and the passions. who has conquered the emotions, attachment, aversions & delusion, who has conquered pleasure and pain, I bow to him.
