JAIN DEVOTIONAL SONGS FROM AIR CALICUT
Calicut, KR. This is the first time in Kerala. The broadcasting on 22 September 1987 was special. Jains from northeast Kerala enjoyed listening to the Jain devotional songs broadcast in Kannada language from All India Radio station in Calicut. It is noted that the indigeneous Ker alite Jains derive their religious faith and fraternity from the much larger Jain community in the neighbouring state, Karnataka.
VIRENDRA PRABHAKAR PHOTO JOURNALIST 1987
Delhi. Mr Virendra Prabhakar, a well known photo journalist of India for the past three decades, has promoted art culture and literature thr ough many organisations since 1950. Further he has achieved a distinctive name in his profession, and now recognition has come.
Virendra Prabhakar was recently honoured with Photo Journalism Award for the year 1987. The govt of India, in 1952, had honoured Virendra with Padmasri National Award.
Mr Prabhakar is with Hindustan Times, New Delhi.
