(g) Sramanologism :
A new chapter on the ahimsa-champions and the IndusValley- śramanologists has to be added to the history of a hiņsa ideals in India. Exclusive monopolization of the ahimsa and a staunch belief, that its origin is from Jainism alone, reached a stage where some monks privileged themselves even to alter any canonical passages that dealt with himsa and the like, in favour of their new a himsa ideals. The monks of the Sthana kavasi sect within the Svetambara Jainism use only a recently changed version of some of the canonical texts, e.g. “Sutt' a game" vols. I-II, ed Puppha-bhikkhū (Gurgaon Cantt. 1953-1954). The recorded changes in the ahimsa context are as follows:
