________________ 26 FIVE GREAT HEALERS SPEAK HERE When we first visited the famous Healing Sanctuary of Harry Edwards, a large, pleasant mansion in the countryside of England, we were permitted to sit right next to him during an entire session in which he treated the people who had flocked to his healing presence. Though Harry Edwards died a few years ago, his sanctuary and healing methods are continued by his two able assistants, Olive and George Burton, who assisted him while we were there. In his late seventies, Harry Edwards' beaming face seemed ageless. He exuded vitality and warmth. When he placed his hands upon an aching back or a crippled limb, the expression of anxiety or pain on his patient's face melted away, replaced by comfort and hope. Clearly, the patient had been helped. Later, we asked one of his patients to describe his sensations during a healing. He said; “I felt an extraordinary warmth in the touch of Harry Edwards' hands, and at times felt a definite mystical current coming from his presence.” During our interview with him, Harry Edwards told us that “Spirit Healing is not the perogative of any especially endowed person but a common heritage of the whole of the human family.” He advises a student to practice rather than try to learn and always to remember that the healing power comes through us not of us. He believed that healing is not the perogative of any religion, race or gifted few but the common heritage of the human family. “Healing may appear mysterious to some people, but that is due to a limited understanding of the way in which the healing spirit operates. A common denominator links together all healing activities wherever they take place, and that is the premise that healing is God's gift to all his children, regardless of race or creed.” Harry Edwards insisted that there are thousands of potential healers who could develop their gifts and, as a result, bring relief and alleviation to the many whosePage Navigation
