________________ EDITOR'S NOTE We have utilized four old paper mss. in preparing the critical edition of the Viyahapannattīsutta alias the Bhagavatīsūtra. Having compared the first half of the text printed in this part with these four mss. we found that there is no notable and useful difference among variants yielded by them. So, we have compared the second half of the text printed in this part with only one ms. which has been given the sign or 8. Wherever we have noted down variants we have scrutinized the doubtful places in other mss. In addition to these four mss. we have consulted the printed edition also. Over and above these four mss. we have utilized the copy based on the palm-leaf ms. belonging to the Lonkāgachha Jaina JñānaBhandāra at Jesalmer. The copy is incomplete and ends with 3rd Uddeśaka of 5th Śataka. This copy was prepared at the instance of late Agamaprabhākara Munivarya Śrī Punyavijayaji. We have given sign af to it. Again, we have utilized the copy of the oldest palmleaf ms. preserved in Sri Vijayajambūsūri-hastalikhita--cidranjanakosa-Dabhoi Collection built up by Sri Vijaya Raivatasuri and housed in the Arya Sri Jambūsvāmi Jaina Muktābāi Agama Mandir; many folios of the ms. are missing. This copy was also prepared at the instance of late Agamaprabhākara Munirāja Punyavijayaji. We have utilized this copy in order that readers may have general idea of the version and old usages contained in the concerned ms. belonging to the period of time prior to the commentary. We have given the sign 5. to it. The four paper mss. mentioned at the outset belong to the dif ollections preserved in the L. D. Institute of Indology, Ahmedabad. We give here the Serial Numbers and the copyists' colophons occurring at the end of the mss. -This ms. belongs to Sheth Shri Anandji Kalyanaji Jaina Jñāna-bhandāra, No. 2. It has 308 folios. In the Catalogue its old Serial Number is 6. The colophon of the copyist reads as follows: // gram 16000 || Sri Bhagavatīsahità ekādaśängi suprītā samtida varadāstu me // cha // śrīh / cha // Samvat 1552 varse jyeșthavadi 4 some Bhagavatyä saha ekādaśängī samarthitā // cha || śrīsanghasya samarthitā // śrīsanghasya bhadram || cha // mangalam mahāśrī 11 cha || Śrī sam o // cha // cha || cha || UTRThis ms, belongs to Acārya Sri Kirtisüri Jaina Jñana Bhandāra.
