________________ TIME MANAGEMENT AND DISCIPLINE "What to Do When Your Parents Don't Understand Your Mental Health" by Sachin Doshi may be a helpful resource to you as well as "Jainism and Mental Health: How My Renewed Faith Made Me Stronger" by Dhvani Mehta. Both articles discuss how you can take care of your mental health, what resources may be available to you, and are applicable to the lives of college students today. "Breathing and Meditation: Jainism in Action" by 2018 YJA Convention speaker Bhavisha Shroff provides daily short meditation practices and self compassion exercises you can do at any time. Make Organization a Priority It's not my place to tell you exactly how to spend your days in college. But just keep in the back of your mind that lots of money is spent to pay for classes, whether it's your parents, you, scholarships, or student loans funding your tuition. It's an amazing opportunity to have access to this education, so try to be conscious of this before deciding to skip class or slack off. Yes, sometimes they do put lectures on podcasts, which may be more worthwhile than class, but during the appropriate hours, try to make sure you are studying or doing something productive if you aren't in class (i.e. Not sleeping!). Ultimately, you know what's best for you. College is expensive, and it only happens once! And, there are so many people in this world who would do anything to have an opportunity like this you are very blessed. So, try your best to do well. It's important to enjoy college, but your grades are also important. You may not know what your plans are, or your plans may change after 4 years, so try not to slack off. For instance, I got a little distracted during my final years of college, and I ended up having to make up for it by doing many extracurricular activities to prepare for my residency application after pharmacy school. This was extremely stressful. Thankfully, I did end up getting a residency in my field at a great institution, but if I had kept my grades up even more, I may have been more at ease. Make time for your schoolwork, friends, and yourself. This brings me to my next point. 3 ➖➖ 34 BEING JAIN IN COLLEGE
