Chakkhandagama
The text provides a detailed description of the minimum and maximum duration of the four types of bondage (utkriṣṭa-anutkriṣṭa, etc.) of the principal and subsidiary karmas.
(22) Internal Exposition - In this treatise, there is no difference in the bondage of the various living beings with respect to the five jñānāvaraṇa, nine darśanāvaraṇa, mohanīya, sixteen kaṣāya, fear, disgust, āhāraka dvika, taijasa, kārmaṇa śarīra, varṇacatuṣka, agurulaghu catuṣka, ātapa, udyota, nirmāṇa, tīrthaṅkara, and five antarāya karmas. The minimum difference in the duration of the bondage of the karmas of hell, human, and celestial life-spans is one samaya, and the maximum difference is twenty-four muhūrtas. There is no difference in the duration of the bondage of the karmas of the life-span of the animal world. There is no difference in the duration of the bondage of the remaining karmas.
Regarding the sthiti-bandha, the minimum duration of the bondage of the living beings who bind the utkriṣṭa (highest) duration of all the eight karmas is one samaya, and the maximum duration is the period of one avasarpiṇī and one utsarpiṇī. There is no difference in the duration of the bondage of the living beings who bind the anutkriṣṭa (lowest) duration. The minimum duration of the bondage of the living beings who bind the jāghanya (lowest) duration of the seven karmas is one samaya, and the maximum duration is six months. There is no difference in the duration of the bondage of the living beings who bind the ajāghanya (non-lowest) duration.
There is no difference in the duration of the bondage of the living beings who bind the jāghanya and ajāghanya durations of the āyuḥ-karma.
Regarding the anubhāga-bandha, the minimum duration of the bondage of the living beings who bind the utkriṣṭa (highest) anubhāga of the four ghātiyā karmas and āyuḥ-karma is one samaya, and the maximum duration is the period of one asaṃkhyāta loka. There is no difference in the duration of the bondage of the living beings who bind the anutkriṣṭa (lowest) anubhāga.
The minimum duration of the bondage of the living beings who bind the utkriṣṭa (highest) anubhāga of the veda nīya, nāma, and gotra karmas is one samaya, and the maximum duration is six months. There is no difference in the duration of the bondage of the living beings who bind the anutkriṣṭa (lowest) anubhāga.
The minimum duration of the bondage of the living beings who bind the jāghanya (lowest) anubhāga of the four ghātiyā karmas is one samaya, and the maximum duration is six months. There is no difference in the duration of the bondage of the living beings who bind the ajāghanya (non-lowest) anubhāga.
There is no difference in the duration of the bondage of the living beings who bind the jāghanya and ajāghanya anubhāga of the veda nīya, āyuḥ, and nāma karmas. The minimum duration of the bondage of the living beings who bind the jāghanya (lowest) anubhāga of the gotra karma is one samaya, and the maximum duration is the period of one asaṃkhyāta loka. There is no difference in the duration of the bondage of the living beings who bind the ajāghanya (non-lowest) anubhāga.
Regarding the pradeśa-bandha, the minimum duration of the bondage of the living beings who bind the utkriṣṭa (highest) pradeśa of all the eight karmas is one samaya, and the maximum duration is the period of one asaṃkhyātavāṃ bhāga of the jagacchreyī. There is no difference in the duration of the bondage of the living beings who bind the anutkriṣṭa (lowest) pradeśa. There is also no difference in the duration of the bondage of the living beings who bind the jāghanya and ajāghanya pradeśa of all the eight karmas.
In this way, the text has provided a detailed exposition of the minimum and maximum durations of the four types of bondage (utkriṣṭa-anutkriṣṭa, etc.) of all the subsidiary karmas, using the principles of oga and ādeśa.
