Where the time period is slightly more than one month, the region is a densely populated human world. Where the time period is one year, the region is a densely populated Ruchaka dvipa. Where the time period is a year-difference, the region has countless dvipas and samudras. 65
In the time period of countable years, there are countable dvipas and samudras. In the time period of uncountable years, there are uncountable dvipas and samudras. 66
The time (kala) encompasses the growth of four things - time itself, dravya (substance), kshetra (space), and bhava (state of being). When the growth of time occurs, the growth of dravya, kshetra, and future states necessarily occurs. When the growth of kshetra occurs, the growth of time may or may not occur. And when the growth of dravya and paryaya (mode) occurs, the growth of kshetra and time may or may not occur. 66
Where there are Taijasa-sharira (fiery body), Karmana-sharira (karmic body), Taijasa-vargana (fiery aggregates), and Bhashya-vargana (speech aggregates), the region is of the nature of uncountable dvipas and samudras, and the time is of the nature of uncountable years. 67
The purport is that the Avadhi-jnana (limited knowledge) which apprehends the Taijasa-sharira apprehends the uncountable dvipas and samudras as the region, and the uncountable years as the time period, past and future. The Avadhi-jnana which apprehends the Karmana-sharira also apprehends the uncountable dvipas and samudras as the region, and the uncountable years as the time period, past and future, but the region and time of the former are infinitely greater than the latter. The Avadhi-jnana which apprehends a single Taijasa-vargana also apprehends the uncountable dvipas and samudras as the region, and the uncountable years as the time period, but the region and time of the Karmana-sharira apprehending Avadhi-jnana are infinitely greater than this. The Avadhi-jnana which apprehends a single Bhashya-vargana also apprehends the uncountable dvipas and samudras as the region, and the uncountable years as the time period, but the region and time of the above-mentioned Taijasa-vargana apprehending Avadhi-jnana are infinitely greater than this.
