Preface
[67]
The soul who has the highest bondage of the excellent part of the karma of the said karmic agent, and in whom the highest essence of that excellent part is present, is one who, being a five-sensed being, a holder of wrong belief, fully endowed with all the perfections, suitable for active use, awakened, and having attained the excellent affliction according to the rule, has, without destroying the part of the karmic bundle, died within an antarmuhurta (less than 48 minutes) and has been born among the one-sensed, two-sensed, three-sensed, four-sensed, or five-sensed, conscious or unconscious beings. Whether he is gross or subtle, perfect or imperfect, has taken birth in any of the four gatis (destinies), he is the lord of the excellent time-experience of the said four destructive karmas. One should know the non-excellent feeling-experience different from this excellent feeling-experience.
It has been explained that the lord of the excellent feeling-experience of the vedaniya (feeling-producing), nama (name-determining), and gotra (family-determining) karmas is the subtle-contemplative purified renouncer who, in the last moment of the tenth gunasthana (spiritual stage), had the excellent bondage of those three non-destructive karmas.
The excellent feeling-experience of the vedaniya, nama, and gotra karmas of that last-moment subtle-contemplative purified renouncer, and of the one in whom that excellent essence is present, i.e., the kshina-kashaya (with exhausted passions) vitaraga (free from passions) chadmastha (householder), sayogikevali (omniscient with psychic powers), and ayogikevali (omniscient without psychic powers), should be known. The beings who are the holders of the remaining feelings other than this excellent feeling-experience should be known as the lords of the non-excellent feeling-experience.
It has been explained that the lord of the excellent feeling-experience of the ayukarma (life-determining karma) is the apramatta-samyata (non-negligent ascetic) who, with active use, awakened and endowed with the purity of the corresponding effort, had the excellent bondage of the deva-ayus (divine life-span). Along with him, the four upashamika-samyatas (ascetics with suppressed passions) who ascend and descend the upashamashrenya (ladder of suppression of passions), the pramatta-samyata (negligent ascetic), and the deva born in the anuttara-vimanas (highest heavens) have the excellent feeling-experience of the ayukarma. The non-excellent feeling-experience of the ayukarma of the other beings should be known.
It has been explained that the lord of the jighanya (lowest) feeling-experience is as follows: In the last moment of the twelfth gunasthana of the kshina-kashaya vitaraga chadmastha, the jighanya feeling-experience of the jnanavaraNiya (knowledge-obscuring), darshanavaraRiya (perception-obscuring), and antaraya (obstacle-creating) karmas occurs. In the last moment of the tenth gunasthana of the sukshmaSamparaya-samyata (subtle-contemplative renouncer), the jighanya feeling-experience of the mohakarma (deluding karma) occurs. The ayogikevali in the last moment experiences the jighanya feeling-experience of the vedaniya karma. The human or five-sensed animal being who has made the lowest bondage of the ayukarma related to the imperfect tiryanc (animal) state, and the being in whom its essence is present, have the jighanya feeling-experience of the ayukarma. The subtle nigodiya (single-celled) being with the hata-samutpatti (destroyed-arising) karma, who has made the lowest bondage of the namakarma through the medium of the changing middle state of being, and the being in whom its essence is present, have the jighanya feeling-experience.
