दूसरे गुणस्थानवर्ती सासादनसम्यग्दृष्टि जीव वर्तमान काल में तो लोकके असंख्यातवें भागमें ही रहते हैं। किंतु भूतकाल में उन्होंने कुछ कम आठ बटे चौदह (४) राजु और कुछ कम बारह बटे चौदह [१३] राजुप्रमाण क्षेत्रका स्पर्शन किया हैं। इसका अभिप्राय यह है विहारवत्स्वस्थान, वेदना, कषाय और वैक्रियिकसमुद्घात इन चार पदोंकी अपेक्षा सासादनसम्यग्दृष्टि जीवोंने पूर्वमें बतलाई हुई त्रसनाड़ी के चौदह भागोंमेंसे आठ भागोंका स्पर्श किया हैं, अर्थात् आठ घनराजुप्रमाण त्रसनाडी के भीतर ऐसा एक भी प्रदेश नहीं है जिसे कि भूतकाल में चारों गतियों के सासादनसम्यग्दृष्टियोंने स्पर्शन किया हो। यह आठ घनराजुप्रमाण क्षेत्र त्रसनाड़ी के भीतर जहां कहीं नहीं लेना चाहिए, किन्तु नीचे तीसरे नरकसे लेकर ऊपर सोलहवें खर्गतक का लेना चाहिए। इसका कारण यह है कि भवनवासी देव स्वयं तो नीचे तीसरे नरक तक जाते-आते हैं और ऊपर पहले स्वर्ग के शिखर ध्वजदंड तक। किन्तु ऊपर के स्वर्गवाले देवों के प्रयोग से सोलहवें स्वर्ग तक भी विहार कर सकते हैं। उनके इतने क्षेत्र में विहार करनेके कारण उस क्षेत्रका ऐसा एक भी आकाश-प्रदेश नहीं बचा है, जिसका कि दूसरे गुणस्थानवाले उक्त देवोंने अपने शरीर द्वारा स्पर्श न किया हो। इस प्रकार इस स्पर्श किये गये क्षेत्र को लोकनाड़ी के चौदह भागोंमेंसे आठ भाग प्रमाण स्पर्शन क्षेत्र कहते हैं । इस क्षेत्रको कुछ कम कहनेका कारण यह है कि वे भवनवासी देव तीसरे नरक में वहां तक ही जाते हैं, जहां तक कि नारकी रहते हैं। किन्तु मध्यलोक से तीसरी पृथ्वी का तलभाग दो राजु नीचा है। इस पृथ्वी का तलभाग एक हजार योजन मोटा है, ठोस है। उसमें नारकी नहीं पाये जाते, किन्तु उसके ऊपर ही रहते हैं। अतः विहार करनेवाले देव तीसरी पृथ्वी के तलभाग तक नहीं जाते हैं, किन्तु उपरिम भागतक ही जाते हैं । इस एक हजार योजनको कम करने के लिए ही कुछ कम ( देशोन) पदका प्रयोग यहां किया गया है । इसी प्रकार जहां कहीं भी देशोन पदका प्रयोग किया गया हो, वहां पर सर्वत्र यथा संभव इसी प्रकार का अर्थ लेना चाहिए । मारणान्तिक समुद्घात की अपेक्षा सासादन गुणस्थानवी जीवों ने लोकनाली के चौदह भागोंमें से बारह भाग का भूतकाल में स्पर्श किया है। इसका अभिप्राय यह है कि छठी पृथ्वी के सासादन गुणस्थानवाले नारकी यतः मध्य लोक में उत्पन्न होते हैं, अतः यहां तक मारणान्तिक समुद्घात करते हैं । तथा इसी गुणस्थानवाले भवनवासी आदि देव ऊपर लोक के अन्त में अवस्थित आठवीं पृथ्वी के पृथिवीकायिक जीवों में मारणान्तिक समुद्घात करते हैं। इस प्रकार सुमेरु तल से नीचे छठी पृथिवी तक के पांच राज,
और ऊपर लोकान्त तक के सात राजु ये दोनों मिलकर बारह राजु हो जाते हैं। इस कुछ कम बारह घनराजु प्रमाण क्षेत्र का दूसरे गुणस्थानवाले जीवों ने अतीत काल में स्पर्शन किया है और आगे भी करेंगे, इस अपेक्षा उनका उक्त प्रमाण स्पर्शन क्षेत्र कहा गया है। यहांपर भी कुछ कम का अर्थ बतलाये गये प्रकार से लेना चाहिए ।

The sāsādana-samyagdṛṣṭi jīvas (right-belief beings in the second gunasthāna) currently reside in only an infinitesimal part of the loka (universe). However, in the past, they have touched an area slightly less than eight and a half (8 1/2) rajus and slightly less than thirteen and a half (13 1/2) rajus. This means that with respect to the four categories of vihāravat-svastāna (residence), vedanā (feelings), kaṣāya (passions), and vaikriyika-samudghāta (manifestation of psychic powers), the sāsādana-samyagdṛṣṭi jīvas have touched eight parts out of the fourteen parts of the trasanāḍī (mobile organism), i.e., there is not a single region within the eight-raju-sized trasanāḍī that has not been touched by the sāsādana-samyagdṛṣṭis of the four gatis (destinies). This eight-raju-sized area within the trasanāḍī should be taken from the third nāraka (hell) up to the sixteenth svarga (celestial realm). The reason for this is that the bhavanavāsī devas (celestial beings) themselves go up to the third nāraka and down to the top of the first svarga.
