It told about history of Tirthankaras' Teaching, different schools and sects in Jainism and modern trends in this tradition. N.R. Guseva did not study any Indian Language (nor Sanskrit, nor Prakrit or even modern Hindi) and she did not refer to ancient Jain literature so her exposition of Jainism in the book depends on only her knowledge of European sources about this subject and her personal impressions. The book was oriented to the masses to give them main ideas about Mahavira's Doctrine in the context of modern situation in India. In 70-ies the article written by V.S. Kostyuchenko devoted to the problems of Jain dialectics was published. Cosmological conceptions in Jainism and Jain cosmography was described in very detailed article Jaina Mythology by Olga Volkova in the Encyclopedia of World Mythology Till recently only one Ph.D dissertation was devoted to Jain Studies in Russian. This was A.A. Terentiev's "Tatthartha-adhigama-sutra as an ancient source of the post-canonical Jainism". Together with the analyses of the main principals and notions of the Jain Doctrine A. Terentiev has translated Umasvati's treatise from Sanskrit into Russian. At that time besides this translation only few extracts from Haribhadra's Shaddarshana-samuccaya were translated into Russian At the end of 20th century the situation has changed in some way. More serious research work on Jainism has been done. One book named “Philosophy of Jainism” by A.A. Terentiev and V.K.Shokhin 10 was published in which Jain Doctrine was explained according to the Umasvati's teaching of Tattvarth-sutra. Quite recently after this publication a small but useful dictionary “Hiduism. Jainism. Sikhism" was released 11. The reconstruction of Mahavira's teaching based on Pali Trupitaka was made by V.K.Shokhin in his “The first Philosophers of India"12.A.A. Terentiev has started as a Jain Scholar but after some time has changed his professional interest from Jainism to Tibetan Buddhism and nowadays deals only with this traditions. At the end of the 90-ties Natalia Zheleznova has done her Ph.D. dissertation on Kundakunda's doctrine of salvation and from that time she is continuing research work on Jainism, mostly Digamber Philosophy. She has published the monograph which is dedicated to the investigation of texts belonging to one of the most famous and important Jain teacher Kundakunda (III-IV A.D.).
