Dear Sir,
With reference to your letter dated 20th April 1927 bearing No. 596 of 1927 receipt whereof has been acknowledged by us on 26th April 1927, we beg to inquire of you whether you had placed before the members of the S. L. Examination Board or the Sub-Committee referred to in your letter under reply, the correspondence which passed between you as the Registrar of the Bombay University and us re-Mr. Munshi's books or whether you informed the members of the said Board or its sub-committee about the feeling of our Community against prescribing any of Mr. Munshi's books viz Patan-ni-Prabhuta, Gujarat-no-Nath, Raja Dhiraj, and Gujarat-na-Jyotirdharo, as a text book.
1 If you have not drawn the attention of the Board and the Sub-co mmittee, we shall thank you to place before the same the correspondence which passed between us and you as Registrar of the Bombay University, the report of the committee appointed by us re- Mr. Munshi's books, and the resolution passed at the public meeting of the Jains in Bombay.
2 Similar resolutions were passed by Jains residing in other places, such as Ahmedabad, Surat, Bhavnagar, Cambay, Pattan, Dhulia, Songadh Etc, and reports thereof have appeared in most of the vernacular papers of Bombay.
3 We encolse herewith copy correspondence, copy report, and the copy resolution for placing the same before the Board of the S. L. Examination and the Sub-Committee.
. 4 We wish you had informed us in time whilst we carried on correspondence with you in this matter that a proposal was before the Board or its Sub-committee for prescribing books of Mr. Munshi for School Leaving Examination of 1928. In that event, we would have carried on correspondence with the Board or the sub-committee informing of the feelings of our community in this matter and would have furnished to them
