Grant me O Master, by Thy grace To follow all the good and pure, To be content with simple things; To use my fellows not as means but ends, To serve them in thought, word and deed; Never to utter a word of hate or shame. To cast away all selfishness and pride; To speak no ill to others;
To have a mind at peace,
Set free from care, and let astray from Thee Neither by happiness nor by woe;
Set Thou my feet upon this path, And keep me steadfast in it,
Thus only shall I please Thee, serve Thee right, Saint Tulsidas

(અનુવાદક : ગીતા પરીખ) ( છંદ : મિશ્રાવસંતતિલકા ) (a) હે નાથ ! તાહરી કૃપા વરસાવ જેથીહું સૌ પવિત્ર શુભ તત્વનું લક્ષ્ય રાખું, સાદાઈમાં જ પરિતૃપ્ત રહી શકું હું, ને અન્યને નહિ કરૂં મુજ સ્વાર્થસાધન, સેવા કરૂ સહુની હું મન—વાણી કર્મથી, ધિક્કાર કે શરમના નહિ શબ્દ બેલું, ને સ્વાર્થ-ગર્વ સઘળા કરૂં છિન્નભિન્ન, વાણી ન ઉચ્ચરૂ કટુ, મન સ્વસ્થ રાખું, નિશ્ચિત રાખી મન, હું મુજથી ન થાઉં દુ:ખે સુખે જરીય દૂર, ચળું ન લેશ; આ પંથના અડગ યાત્રી મને કરી દે, તારી કૃપા લહીશ આમ જ હું કરીને ભકિતભર્યા હ્રદયથી તવ સાચી સેવા. સતર્કવ તુલસીદાસ (૨)
હે દેવ, તું કર મને તેવ શાંતિકરૂ કોઈ નમ્ર સાધન : હું ફિટકાર હો. ત્યાં દે વાવવા, પ્રભુ, મને ઉરે પ્રેમ-બીજ, ને ઘા પડે ત્યહિ ક્ષમાતણી આર્દ્ર ભાવના, શ્રાદ્ધા કરું જલતી વહેમભરેલ હૈયે, આશા જગાવું હિં અંતર હૈ। હતાશ, અંધારમાં જવું તેજમાં પ્રદીપ, આનંદ હું છલકતો કરું વેદનામાં; હું દિવ્ય દેવ ! મુજમાં બળ એવું કૈં કે શાતા દઈ શકું હું, સાંત્વન ઝંખું ના હું, ને સૌ મને સમજતા– ચહીં એ ન કિન્તુ હું સર્વને સમજું, પામ્યું હું પ્રેમ એવું ના યા. કિન્તુ વરસાવી શકું હું પ્રેમ. છે ત્યાગમાં જ સહુ પ્રાપ્તિ, અને સહુને અર્પી ક્ષમા લહી શકાય ક્ષમા જ જાતે, ને મૃત્યુમાંહિ મળતા

વિષ્ટ શકિત—ચરણે નહિ હું કદાપિ, શકિત ઉત્ કરવા મન માહરાને આ રોજરોજતણી ક્ષુદ્ર મથામણોથી, ને શકિત દે

તારી મહેચ્છામાંહ
પ્રેમભાવે શમાવી દેવા મુજ સર્વ શકિત !
