पंचास्तिकाय प्राभृत (२) अक्षर-प्राणी अक्षरोंका उच्चारण अपने प्रजोजनवश ज्ञानपूर्वक करता है। यदि पंचभूतसे बना जीव माना जायेगा तो उसमें विचार पूर्वक व ज्ञानजन्य अक्षरोंका उच्चारण नहीं हो सकता । जैसे जड़ पुगलके बने यंत्रमें ज्ञानपूर्वक शब्दोच्चारण नहीं होता इससे भी भूतोंसे भिन्न आत्मा सिद्ध है।
(३) भव ( जन्म )-देहका धारण करना-जबतक स्थायी आत्मा न माना जायगा तबतक देहका धरना-जन्मना नहीं बन सकेगा।
(४)सादृश्य-जो बात एक सजीवप्राणीमें देखी जाती हैं वही दूसरोंमें देखी जाती है । सब ही प्राणियोंके भीतर आहार, भय, मैथुन, परिग्रह चार संज्ञाएं होती हैं । इंद्रियोंके द्वारा काम करना समान है। यह सब भिन्न आत्माके माने बिना हो नहीं सकता । भौतिकदेह मात्र माननेसे सादृश्यता अकारण हो जायेगी, बिना विशेष कारणके यह सदृशता क्यों है ?
(५-६ ) स्वर्गनरक-जगतमें स्वर्ग और नरक प्रसिद्ध हैं-यदि आत्मा न माना जायगा तो कौन पुण्यके फलसे स्वर्गम व कोन पापके फलसे मरकामें जाधमा?
(७) पितर-यदि आत्मा न माना जायगा तो जो यह बात प्रसिद्ध है कि भूतप्रेत आकर कह देते हैं कि हम तुम्हारे पिता आदि थे यह बात नष्ट हो जायगी अथवा लौकिकमें पितृपूजा, श्राद्ध आदि करते हैं सो आत्माके नष्ट होते हुए नहीं बन सकेंगे।
(८) चूल्हा-यदि पांच भूतोंसे आत्मा बनजाता हो तो चूल्हे पर चढ़ाई हुई हांडी, पृथ्वी, जल, अग्नि, वायु, आकाश पांच तत्त्वोंसे युक्त है उसमें ज्ञान व इच्छा क्यों नहीं दिखलाई पड़ते हैं।
(१) मृतक-मुर्दा शरीर भी पृथ्वी, जल, अग्नि, वायु, आकाश सहित है फिर उसमें इच्छा व ज्ञान क्यों नहीं होते ?
इस तरह नव दृष्टांतोंसे आत्मा जड़से भिन्न नित्य है यह बात सिद्ध होती है ।।१।।
अथवा सामान्य चेतना गुणका व्याख्यान सर्व मतोंके लिये साधारण रूपसे जानना चाहिये । यह जीव ज्ञानोपयोग दर्शनोपयोग से भिन्न नहीं है ऐसा व्याख्यान नैयायिक मतके अनुसारी शिष्यको समझाने के लिये कहा है क्योंकि नैयायिक गुण और गुणकी भिन्नता किसी समय मान लेता है । यह आत्मा ही मोक्षका उपदेशक तथा मोक्षका साधक होनेसे प्रभु है यह व्याख्यान इसलिये किया है कि वीतराग सर्वज्ञका वचन प्रामाणिक होता है तथा

(8) Stove - If the soul is made of the five elements, then the pot placed on the stove is made of the five elements: earth, water, fire, air, and space. Why is there no knowledge or desire in it?

In this way, it is proved by nine examples that the soul is eternal and different from inert matter.
