१८०. प्रश्न : पल्य के कितने भेद हैं ? उनसे किनका माप
किया जाता है ? उत्तर : व्यवहार पल्य, उद्धार पल्य और अद्धापल्य के मंद स पल्य तीन प्रकार के होते हैं। व्यवहारपल्य से संख्या का, उद्धार पल्य से द्वीप समुद्रों का और अद्धापल्य से कर्मस्थिति का माप किया जाता है। १८१. प्रश्न : पल्य किसे कहते हैं ? उत्तर : उत्तम भोगभूमि में जन्म लेने वाले भेड़ के जन्म से सात दिन के भीतर तक के रोमों को ग्रहण कर उनके अग्र भाग के बराबर खण्ड कर, संचित किए हुए करोड़ों रोमों से एक योजन व्यास एवं एक योजन गहराई वाले विशाल कुण्ड को भर दो। ऐसे विशाल कुण्ड में भरे हुए रोमों का जितना प्रमाण है, उसे पल्य कहते हैं। १८२. प्रश्न : व्यवहार पल्य किसे कहते हैं ? उत्तर : कुण्ड में भरे हुए रोमों में से प्रत्येक सौ वर्ष बाद एक-एक रोम के निकालने पर जितने काल में समस्त रोम समाप्त हों, उतने काल के समयों की संख्या ही व्यवहार पल्य के समयों की संख्या है।
